Biometrics is the process of identifying a person by their unique physiological features, ie fingerprints.

What is RF technology?

RF stands for "radio frequency". These locks are activated by holding a coded RF card near the sensor of the lock, the lock reads the signal and will open if allowed

What is Smart card and Magnetic card technology?

Smart card - Similar to a new bank card with a chip in it. The chip looks a bit like a mobile phone sim card. These cards are placed into the insertion and read by the lock's CPU. Smart cards are more robust and can with stand more wear and tear. Magnetic cards- similar to a credit card. The card has a magnetic strip running along the side of it. The card is placed into the insertion, read by the lock's CPU and removed. These are a more cost effective option as they are ideal for a hotel with high volumes of traffic per day where cards need to be replaced often.

How do I open the door from inside on any of these locks?

On all of our products, from biometric to RF to smart/mag card locks. From inside, the handle is always free. Meaning that it can always be opened without fingerprint or code or cards etc. but from the outside always locked. This is especially important with small children or possible fire hazards. The user can always leave from inside without the risk of being locked in.

How does the sensor on the biometric lock work?

When the finger is placed on the sensor it is scanned. The resulting image is converted into binary code and stored. This means that the unit is not actually storing your personal fingerprint, but converting it into code which the lock recalls when used
